Because Toyota throw the badge on to sell cars. It originally descended from the lightweight 70 series, right now it’s a totally different car from that. If you want to argue with what a “real” land cruiser is, people outside the US will argue that the 100 and 200 series aren’t actually lamdcruisers either.

Aug 30, 2016. #12. The Land Cruiser was designed to have a 25 year service life. Absolutely everything about it is overbuilt from the paint to the chassis. Even the exhaust system is about three times as thick as a typical car and made of stainless steel to prevent corrosion.

I drive a 2007 Landcruiser and my wife drives a 2012 GX460. The main differences are in the comfort level and amenities that the GX has over the LC. The GX suits my wife and her comfort needs where as the LC supports my needs for a vehicle that is rugged, still a good ride, not as smooth, and can be beat up.
